Kelly + Nicolas, wedding in Paris – part II 4
Cat.: Destination Wedding, Wedding26. June 2007

Kelly and Nicolas had their international destination wedding in Paris on May 26. Kelly is a producer for acclaimed TV shows like Nip/Tuck and the Shield, among others. For someone who works with celebrities on high profile projects on the regular basis, you would think she’d be all attitude. On the contrary, she is one of the kindest and sweetest brides we know. Even when the tension was high we saw nothing but smiles on her face. While Kelly and Nicolas call Boston home it seems they both travel quite a bit like we do. Mimi and I were privileged to be flown to Paris France, where Nicolas is from, to document their Parisan wedding. This is part one of their wedding story. Stay tuned for more…

I don’t remember when, but I added the DVD “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” to my Blockbuster online queue after I saw a preview for it. I knew it was a film I just had to see. I had forgotten about it and two weeks ago it just showed up in the mail. With my busy schedule I finally found some time tonight to take a break from editing to see it.

Back when I was a student at UT, I had seen a wall on the Drag with a funny looking frog that greets “Hi, how are you” every time I saw it. I never paid much attention to it other than that it’s just another one of those things that makes Austin Austin. About two years ago the mural made big news as it was in danger of being torn down and the community fought to save it. Even then I still didn’t pay attention to what the big deal was.

Well, it turns out there is quite a story behind the art and guy who painted it. Daniel Johnston is an artist and musician who struggled with mental illness most of his life. His obsession with self-documenting his life through tape recordings, super-8 films, as well as his drawings and music provided a fascinating and inspiring look into his world.
Check out some of his music:

Definitely check out the film if you haven’t already seen it! Be sure to watch the bonus features too.

If you or someone you know is interested, contact me (soon) and I will pass the information along.
Cheers,

Out of the office:
I am heading to the airport for Sheila’s wedding in the Great Exuma in just a few hours. I expect to be back in the office on Tuesday June 12.
If you need to reach me, email would probably be the best.
Thanks!
Brian
EDITED TO ADD:
6/11 @ 6:23 PM
Thanks to mechanical problems, I am still in the Great Exuma waiting for my plane to come in from Ft. Lauderdale. My original connection had already taken off so even if I’m lucky enough to make the flight out of the Bahamas tonight there isn’t another flight home until tomorrow. I expect to be officially back in the office on Wednesday 6/13.
I am back in the office and I am mostly caught up with emails and voice mails. If you have been waiting to hear from me, thanks for your patience.
I am barely unpacked and I will be flying out again in a couple of days. I am heading to the Bahamas for Sheila and Dan’s wedding in the Great Exuma. Another wedding I’ve been looking forward to.
Here are some random images from Paris and the Loire Valley. More later.
